toy grand
Rascasse, Monaco
toy grand was created in Monaco just before the Rascasse corner, which Formula 1 fans know as one of the narrowest and most difficult on the world-famous street circuit. It is named after the restaurant located on the inside of the corner, which allows its guests on the Grand Prix weekend - for a significantly increased fee - to watch the race cars speed by almost at arm's length from their tables during lunch. Excellent ear protection is strongly recommended at this point.
The photo was apparently taken just before the 2009 Grand Prix, with parts of the decoration already in place above and next to the track. Also included are two very special classic sports cars - toys for the big boys. In the foreground is a Porsche Carrera RS 2.7 in the lightweight M471 version, just 200 of them built built in 1973, today a highly sought-after, iconic model. In front of it is a Ferrari 250 GT ShortWheelBase (SWB) in SEFAC specification, of which only about 20 examples were built in 1961 - the exact number built cannot be determined. today one of the most sought-after and expensive of all.
toy grand conveys an electrifying calm before the big storm, the world event Grand Prix Automobile F1 de Monaco. The viewer can sense that the two peacefully resting, magnificent sports cars will very soon be brought back to life and set spiritedly in motion - for the visual and acoustic pleasure of the restaurant guests, who only days later will be able to experience the really big boys in their F1 bolides at this very spot. By the way - Jenson Button won the race in a Brawn-Mercedes. He later became world champion that year.
